Supaji, director of the Department of Medical Sciences of the Ministry of Health, said that the vast majority of the newly-added daily confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in Thailand are still infected with the delta strain. Although the number of infections with Omi Keron strain is increasing, wearing masks, keeping social distance, and washing hands frequently are still effective methods to prevent all strains.

On the same day, Thailand notified 2575 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia and 17 new deaths. So far, Thailand has confirmed a total of 2,217,287 cases and a total of 21,647 deaths.

In order to prevent and control the spread of the new crown epidemic, the Bangkok municipal government, the capital of Thailand, issued an announcement on the 29th to continue to close bars, nightclubs, karaoke shops and other entertainment venues in the city until January 15, 2022. In addition, if private organizations hold New Year’s Eve activities, they must strictly abide by relevant anti-epidemic regulations.

According to the announcement, anyone who violates the above regulations will be fined up to 100,000 baht (approximately RMB 19,000), or imprisoned for up to 2 years, or both.
