The Church in France overwhelmed by accusations of pedophilia by priests

PARIS – “We have discovered a frightening reality that surpasses any imagination in horror”. Asking the victims for forgiveness, the president of the French Bishops’ Conference, Eric de Moulins-Beaufort, makes it clear that it is no longer time for silence. The Catholic Church across the Alps is living its day of judgment, with the presentation of the expected “Sauvé report”, named after the person in charge who in the last 32 months has investigated with twenty-one other experts – including theologians, lawyers, psychiatrists – on the abuses of pedophile priests from 1950 to today.
