The small French town of Saint-Amand-Montrond is making headlines with its one euro house program, aimed at attracting new residents and revitalizing the community. The house being offered is a spacious property with two levels, two bedrooms, a patio, garage, and one and a half bathrooms, all for just over US$1. However, there’s a catch – the house has not been inhabited for the past twelve years and is in need of extensive renovations estimated to cost around US$136,180.

Potential buyers interested in purchasing the one euro house must demonstrate their commitment to living in Saint-Amand-Montrond and provide detailed renovation plans and financing information. The goal of the program is to reduce the number of empty homes in the city center and bring new life to the neighborhood. Interested parties have until June 15 to submit their applications through the town’s website.

Once the selection process is complete, the new owner will have five months to begin renovations, with the goal of completing the work by June 2028. The town is hopeful that this initiative will help attract new residents and breathe new life into the community.
