The FBI mole who accused Biden and his son Hunter has been indicted: “He lied about business with the Ukrainian company Burisma”

WASHINGTON – Special Prosecutor David Weiss has accused a former FBI informant of lying about the affairs of President Joe Biden and his son Hunter. The Washington Post reports it. According to the indictment, mole Alexander Smirnov provided false information in June 2020, in particular that the Ukrainian energy company Burisma paid Hunter and Joe Biden 5 million each in 2015 and 2016.

Smirnov, 43, allegedly fabricated claims that the US president’s son asked for the money to protect Burisma – on whose board of directors he was a member at the time – from an investigation. Smirnov’s evidence has been held up by Republicans as proof of the Bidens’ collective involvement in a criminal enterprise, which some in the party are using as justification for their so-far failed attempts to impeach President Joe Biden. The grand jury indictment filed Wednesday in federal court in California alleges that for at least a decade Smirnov acted as a “confidential human source” for the FBI, providing his handler with information for use in criminal investigations.

“Despite repeated warnings to provide truthful information to the FBI and not to fabricate evidence, the defendant provided false and derogatory information to the FBI about Joe and Hunter Biden,” the document reads. According to Prosecutor Weiss’ indictment, in June 2020 Smirnov told his supervisor for the first time about meetings that he said had taken place four or five years earlier, during which Burisma executives said they had hired Hunter Biden to “protect us, through his father, from all kinds of problems.”
