LONDON. A British citizen who became a member of ISIS during the war in Iraq and Syria pleaded guilty to the murder of several Western hostages during a hearing in the United States. Alexanda Kotey is accused of belonging to a cell of the Islamic terrorist group nicknamed “the Beatles” because it was distinguished by a typically English accent.
Together with his partner El Shafee Elsheik, also under arrest in the US, 37-year-old Kotey is on trial for killing and beheading American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff, and humanitarian NGO volunteers Peter Kassig and Kayla Mueller.
