“The math book is pornographic”, China withdraws it from circulation

BEIJING – “Ugly, pornographic and secretly pro-American”. So much so that the state-owned publishing house was forced to withdraw the book after the flood of comments on social media. The reason? The drawings contained in a mathematics text adopted in Chinese elementary schools: children depicted with small eyes and large heads, male genitals marked with ambiguous “bulges” in their pants, boys lifting the girls’ skirts, stars and stripes dresses that refer to the US flag.
