The moment a landslide overwhelms a gold mine in Turkey: 9 workers missing under the rubble

A landslide in a gold mine swept away yesterday afternoon – Tuesday 13 February – a village near Ilic in Turkey, in the province of Erzincan. Nine miners were trapped in the rubble. The Copler mine is managed by the Turkish company Anagold: the company expressed deep concern for the fate of the missing workers in a note. The mayor of the city of Ilic, Bekir Aksun, was the first to raise the alarm. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that around 800 people are currently participating in the rescue operations.
