The New York Prosecutor investigates Ukraine’s interference to favor Trump’s re-election

by admin

The New York Federal Prosecutor is investigating whether Ukrainian officials attempted to interfere in the 2020 US presidential election to favor Donald Trump and harm Joe Biden. The New York Times reports this, explaining how investigators also focus on the role of Rudolph Giuliani, a former lawyer and friend of Trump, suspecting that he was used to spread disinformation. The investigation is of a criminal nature and is distinct from the one that the Manhattan prosecutor is already conducting on Giuliani’s ties in Ukraine.

The investigation would have been launched in the final months of the Trump administration, but only now has it been revealed to the NYT by sources close to the dossier. In particular, much of the efforts of investigators from the Brooklyn Prosecutor’s Office would be focused on Russian intelligence circles with suspected ties to at least one of the investigated Ukrainian citizens.
