Suigo (INWIT): “The Leadership level achieved represents an important step and consolidates the validity of our climate strategy towards Net Zero”.
INWIT promoted by CDP Climate Change, which brings the score from B to A-, to the Leadership level. The main Italian tower operator is among the over 23,000 companies that have reported their commitment in terms of governance, impacts, risks and opportunities related to climate change.
The main strengths that led to the improvement of the score are: strong governance of climate aspects and the full integration of these aspects into business strategies. The progress achieved by the company in the “value chain engagement” areas and in the reporting of Scope 1&2 and Scope 3 emissions is significant.
The path towards sustainable business undertaken by INWIT continues with the renewed recognition of the transparency and validity of the commitment to climate change by CDP, an international non-profit organisation.
INWIT has a CO2 emissions reduction target for 2030, validated by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), aligned with the indications of the scientific community and with international agreements to fight climate change, which aim to maintain global warming below 1.5 °C.
In the path towards the decarbonisation of its activities, INWIT has also defined a climate strategy towards Net Zero, for which the company will continue to leverage the use of electricity from renewable sources, understood as self-production from photovoltaic and purchase, as well as to increase investments in energy efficiency and strengthen the involvement of its supply chain on climate aspects.
“This upgrade makes us proud and stimulates us to do more and more in the fight against climate change – declared Michelangelo Suigo, Director of External Relations, Communication and Sustainability of INWIT -. Having reached the Leadership level in the CDP Climate Change represents an important step in our journey and consolidates the validity of our climate strategy towards Net Zero”.
