They call it the “Javelin Trail”, from the name of the deadliest antitank missiles, evoking the “Ho Chi Minh Trail” that brought ammunition and rifles to Viet Cong guerrillas. The American B-52 bombers never managed to block that row of bicycles crammed with grenades and barefoot carriers folded under panniers of bullets. Today, however, lone drivers of anonymous vans, pick-ups and off-road vehicles run at night across Ukraine to hand over weapons donated by the West to the resistance, thus changing the tide of the conflict.
