The sites of the US airlines and Australian banks are haywire

by admin

NEW YORK. The websites of major US airlines are blocked. According to the specialized site Downdetector, over a thousand customers reported problems on the Southwest Airlines portal, over 400 for Delta Airlines, and other difficulties are reported by users of American Airlines and United Airlines. Southwest had to cancel nearly 300 flights and delayed more than 500 after being forced to temporarily halt operations due to a technical problem at the terminals.

Downdetector also reported difficulties on Virgin Australia’s website and the web pages of Australian banks Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, ANZ, ME Bank and CommBank. According to initial investigations, the origin of the problems would be a collapse of the Akamai provider’s system. The problems on the Australian sites come a week after another wave of difficulties, this time linked to problems with the system of the American data storage company Fastly.

For the moment, the companies concerned are talking about system problems, no hacker attacks are reported.
