The federal government of Addis Ababa on Monday launched the “final offensive” against the Tigray rebels. This was reported by the spokesman for the government of the Tigray and Tplf commissariat (Popular Front for the Liberation of Tigray), Getachew Reda, with a statement on Twitter.
The conflict between the premier’s government Abiy Ahmed, aided by the Eritrean army of Isaias Afwerki, and that of Tigray, has lasted almost a year: eleven months of war that triggered a humanitarian catastrophe with thousands of deaths, millions of displaced persons, torture and abuse used as instruments of war, 400 thousand people at risk of famine and blocked international aid.
