CCTV News reported that Kim Sung, the special representative for North Korean affairs of the US government, arrived in South Korea on June 19 for a five-day visit. When he arrived at Incheon International Airport on the same day, Kim Sung said that he looked forward to having constructive dialogues with the South Korean Foreign Ministry’s representative to North Korea, Ruguid, Japan’s representative to North Korea, and the director of the Asian Affairs Bureau of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kenhiro Funakoshi.

On the 21st, Kim Sung and Ruguid, Minister of Peaceful Negotiations on the Korean Peninsula, will first hold a meeting of the chief representatives of South Korea and the United States for consultations on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue. After that, Kim Sung and Ruguid will also hold a meeting with the director of the Asian and General Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Held a meeting of chief representatives from Korea, the United States and Japan. On the 22nd, Kim Sung will meet with South Korean Unification Minister Lee In-young, and then with South Korean academics and civic groups to discuss the United States’ North Korea policy.

Kim Sung will end his visit to South Korea on the 23rd. This is Kim Sung’s first visit to South Korea after he was appointed as the special representative for North Korean affairs. The Deputy Special Representative for North Korean Affairs of the U.S. Government, Park Zheng, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and Pacific Affairs, and members of the White House National Security Council accompanied the visit to South Korea.
