New Crown Subsidy Application Venue (Asahi Shimbun)

Overseas Network, June 20th According to Japan’s “Asahi Shimbun” report on the 20th, cases of illegally receiving new crown subsidies in Japan are frequent, but the Japanese government has made limited progress in recovering losses.

As one of the new crown epidemic prevention and control measures, the Japanese government provides “continuous subsidies” to business operators who have been hit by the epidemic, but the resulting new crown subsidy fraud cases are also emerging one after another. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan issued a notice on its official website saying that it hopes that those who “mistaken” the subsidy will return it as soon as possible, otherwise it will be classified as a crime.

According to data from the Japan Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, as of June 16, the Japanese government had received 22,500 applications for voluntary return of subsidies, of which 15,400 had been returned, and about 7,000 had not yet been completed. The Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises said that if voluntary rebates are made to the government, the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises will not bring criminal charges against these businesses or individuals. However, the application does not mean exemption from liability. If the return of the subsidy is still maliciously delayed, the Small and Medium Enterprise Department will contact the police to deal with it.
