ADDIS ABABA – Possible turning point in the conflict of Tigray. The Ethiopian government has declared an “indefinite humanitarian truce” with immediate effect in the hostilities it has been facing with rebels in the northern region of the country since November 2020. A truce, the government explained, to allow “the free flow of humanitarian aid to those in need of assistance” in the region located in the far north of the country and threatened with famine.
