TUNIS. Tunisian President Ka’s Sa’ed has instructed Néjla Bouden to form the government. This was announced in a brief press release from the Presidency specifying that this decision was adopted pursuant to article 16 of presidential decree 117 relating to exceptional measures. It is the first time in the Arab world that a woman has been appointed premier, local media report.
The presidency did not disclose the biography of Bouden, who is a professor of Geology at the National School of Engineers in Tunis Enit and has held the position of general director and head of the Management Unit of the Higher Education Modernization Project in support of employment, PromESSE, before holding the position of Policy Officer in the Cabinet of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chiheb Bouden, in 2015.
