Turkey, hundreds of arrests in the May Day demonstrations

ISTANBUL. Turkish police arrested more than 200 people in clashes that erupted yesterday during May Day demonstrations despite severe anti-Covid restrictions imposed by the authorities. In Istanbul, riot police and officers in civilian clothes clashed with demonstrators. Many union representatives were thrown to the ground by the police and arrested near Taksim Square.
