Two officers of the Brazilian army they declared that the country’s former president, the far-right politician Jair Bolsonaro, had presented a plan to subvert the results of the 2022 presidential elections, which Bolsonaro had lost to the left-wing candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (the current president of Brazil).

The two officers gave testimony to police as part of an investigation into Bolsonaro’s role in the assault on Brazilian institutions on January 8, 2023.
