Reference News Network reported on June 10, according to Singapore’s “Lianhe Zaobao” website, the US Congress held a hearing on the 9th on the attack on the Capitol last year by former President Trump supporters. The hearing was broadcast live on prime-time television, with a congressional select committee accusing Trump of being the “center of a conspiracy to obstruct democracy.” This is the first hearing of a US congressional select committee on the Capitol riots.

After nearly a year of investigation, the U.S. House special committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attacks is preparing to present videotaped testimony from senior Trump administration and campaign officials, committee aides said.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Thompson, chairman of the select committee, said Trump was “at the center of the conspiracy” as evidenced by the Capitol attack.

Since leaving office last year, Trump has maintained his assertion that his 2020 loss to Democratic President Joe Biden was the result of widespread fraud, the report noted, has been rejected by multiple courts, state election officials and members of his own government refused.
