The Biden administration has announced on Monday (September 20) that it will continue to extend the land border restrictions between the United States, Canada and Mexico for one more month, and will close it at least until October 21 before making a decision.

However, Devon Weber, founder of Let Us Reunite, a grassroots advocacy organization that is pushing for the reopening of the land border, said that some families on the southern border have also been affected by the restrictions.
Weber said in an email: “We cannot allow illegal immigrants to become a scapegoat for the government’s bureaucratic paralysis in land border policy.”
“The issue of illegal immigration and the opening of borders for leisure travel are two different things. The United States has 18 months to develop a plan to safely reopen all land borders, but the United States chose not to do so.”
He said that older travelers want a car at their disposal when they arrive in the United States, and there is no reason why the United States should not open its land borders.
