The three European leaders arrived in the Ukrainian capital on a night train (Ukrainian airspace is closed) from Medyka station, in southeastern Poland, after about 10 hours of travel. The visit to Kiev of the three, who held an informal meeting of about two hours by train during the night, had not been officially announced although the news had circulated in recent days.

After the visit to Irpin, the scene of violence against Russian civilians and bombings last March, in the presence of local authorities, the three EU leaders will be welcomed by Ukrainian President Zelensky at the presidential palace in Kiev for a family photo and the start of the interviews.
