Kiev, 16 ships in the Danube ports for grain exports
The number of merchant ships that sailed through the Bystre Canal in the Danube to be loaded with Ukrainian grain has risen to 16. This was announced by the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure, according to reports Ukrinform. “In the past four days, a total of 16 ships have sailed through the Bystre channel. We are going to keep up. The restoration of navigation through this channel is an important step, which will also make it possible to speed up grain exports, ”he adds. “Unfortunately, at the moment the capacity of the waterway and the organization of work allow us to receive only four ships a day, while we need at least eight ships a day,” said Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Yurii Vaskov.
According to Kiev, due to the blockade of Ukrainian seaports, which before the start of the Russian invasion handled about 80% of agricultural exports, food products are exported through the ports of the Danube. But their capacity is not enough. In June, around 2.5 million tonnes of agricultural products were exported through available logistic routes. But the monthly demand is 8 million tons, adds the Ukrainian government.
