JERUSALEM – Two dark eyes with a determined gaze, just a hint of disorientation and then a curious smile. So Yelena, 98, a Holocaust survivor, began her new life in Israel, where she landed from Ukraine on a special flight for refugees. In a video released by Zaka, a Jewish NGO that deals with medical assistance in emergency situations, we see the old woman, with white hair in perfect order, just disembarked from the aircraft in a wheelchair and surrounded by a group of volunteers who joyfully sing the traditional song “We have brought peace to you”.
