United Kingdom, Minister Hancock resigns over scandal

by admin

The pressure on the British health secretary, Matt Hancock, led to his resignation, which arrived on Saturday evening. The story exploded with images of a kiss between him and his alleged lover, his collaborator Gina Coladangelo, which would date back to May 6. The accusation that more and more politicians have made against him is that of the violation of the rules of social distancing imposed by himself.

For the first time, a Tory MP, Duncan Baker, had openly asked for his resignation today (Saturday). His voice went to join those of Labor and the group ‘Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice’ who had asked that he be removed from office. Prime Minister Boris Johnson had been forced to assess the situation closely: a spokesman for Downing Street, wrote the Bbc, he had accepted Hancock’s apology, and the prime minister had complete faith in him.

The images surfaced Friday, published by the tabloid The Sun. Hancock and Coladangelo, both married and with three children, are seen kissing. According to the newspaper, they were made in the Health Department on May 6, which led Hancock to say “very sorry”. Lawyers debate whether Hancock violated his own coronavirus restriction law, but he admitted he only violated the guidelines. The issuer Sky News Uk reports that there are also questions about Coladangelo’s appointment to the post in the Department of Health.
