A man shot in a supermarket, killing one person and wounding twelve, before taking his own life. It happened in Collierville, fifty kilometers from Memphis, Tennessee, around 1.30pm. Police did not explain whether the killer was an employee, or former employee, of the supermarket. “But it is the most serious incident in the history of this city,” commented the local police chief, Dale Lane. The attempted massacre comes six months after the latest such incident in Boulder, Colorado, when a military-style gunman killed ten people in a shopping mall.
