A Michigan magistrate ordered a couple to pay $ 30,000, equivalent to $ 25,000, to their son for throwing away a collection of pornographic magazines and films. District Judge Paul Maloney’s ruling came after 43-year-old David Werking won the lawsuit against his parents. The couple will also have to pay $ 14,000 in court costs.
The judge had requested an expert opinion to estimate the value of the discarded collection. The man had returned to live at his parents’ home for 10 months after their divorce and found that the boxes from his collection of pornography had been thrown away.
“Frankly, David, I did you a great favor in getting rid of that stuff,” the father said in an email, explaining that he acted as the son’s homeowner. But David refused to hear reasons and dragged his parents to court, arguing that they did not have the right to dispose of his assets.
