A policeman killed an African American, Andrew Brown Jr., in Elizabeth City, North Carolina while carrying out a search warrant. The Associated Press reports. Sheriff Tommy Wooten II reported that the agent, his deputy, was wearing a body camera but did not explain how many shots were fired or provide any other details. On the spot, after Brown’s death, a crowd of dozens of people immediately gathered. Clashes are feared.
The shooting follows by 24 hours the one in Ohio where an officer killed a 16-year-old girl, seconds before the verdict was issued against the policeman who killed George Floyd. According to Wavy-Tv, Brown had tried to escape by car and the agent had fired more than one shot at the vehicle. A bullet would have passed through the rear window.
