London hosted the first hearing session of the Uyghur Tribunal, a people’s court set up to collect and examine evidence of human rights abuses and genocide by the Chinese government on the Uighur population. The constitution of the Tribunal, a quasi-judicial body, made up of independent members of civil society whose sentence is not legally binding, heard more than 30 witnesses and experts during the first series of hearings between 4 and 7 June, and will resume his work in September.
