Varadero Beach Drops in TripAdvisor’s Annual Ranking

In the latest annual ranking by TripAdvisor, Varadero beach has dropped one spot among the best beaches in the world. The popular Cuban destination now anchors in tenth place on the list of the 25 most relevant beaches on the planet during the past year. According to the American travel portal, the labels that predominated with respect to Varadero were Activity, Entertainment, Expensive, and Wellness.

Despite dropping in the rankings, TripAdvisor still highlights Varadero’s appeal, describing it as having everything you would expect from a perfect beach: golden sand, turquoise blue water, and impressive sunsets. Visitors to Varadero can also enjoy various activities such as swimming, diving, kayaking, traveling by catamaran, fishing, playing beach volleyball, and taking leisurely walks along the shore.

The TripAdvisor list is led by Falésia Beach in Portugal, with Playa de la Bahía de Gracia in the Turks and Caicos Islands and Playa del Águila in Aruba being the top Caribbean beaches. However, Varadero’s decline in the rankings is reflective of the overall tourism trend in Cuba, with the country experiencing a decline in tourism indicators in recent months.

In the beginning of this year, The World‘s 50 Best Beaches also revealed its list of the top beaches worldwide, where Varadero ranked 48th. The decline in Varadero’s ranking can be attributed to the decrease in tourism numbers in Cuba, with only a moderate 4.3% growth in visitors in January compared to the previous year. Despite this setback, Varadero continues to attract visitors with its beautiful natural landscape and range of activities.

Other beaches that topped The World‘s 50 Best Beaches list include Lucky Beach in Australia, Source d’Argent in the Seychelles, and Hidden Beach in the Philippines. As Varadero looks to regain its position among the world‘s best beaches, visitors are encouraged to relax and enjoy the beauty that this Cuban resort destination has to offer.
