In the second training run for the descent on Saturday, only the upper part will be used. The best time is set by a nobody.

Since there was around 20 cm of fresh snow in Kvitfjell, only the top part up to the Russi jump was skied in the second training session for the downhill run on Saturday. Because training took place on Thursday from the reserve start right down to the finish, this ensures that the original route can be used on Saturday.

With around 49 seconds of driving time, Friday training was not very meaningful, especially since the top favorites held back. The best time was set by a real nobody: the 25-year-old Frenchman Ken Caillot, who had never competed in the World Cup before, was the fastest with number 65. Like compatriot Adrien Fresquet (number 60) in second place, he benefited from the improving visibility. Dominik Paris (ITA), an established driver, only follows in third place.

  • Saturday, 11:50 a.m.: Departure
  • Sunday, 11:55 a.m.: Super-G

Of the Swiss, Ralph Weber was the best with number 44. He took 6th place. Gilles Roulin (8th) and Lars Rösti (9th) also kept up well. Niels Hintermann, the fastest in training on Thursday, took 19th place. Marco Odermatt held back in 48th place.

Sejersted fell badly

The training was overshadowed by Adrian Sejersted’s serious fall. After a jump, the Norwegian came off the ideal line and rolled over several times. The Norwegian was flown to the hospital by helicopter, he dislocated his shoulder and missed the rest of the season. The training could only be continued after a long interruption.

Cyprien Sarrazin also retired early. Odermatt’s main competitor in the battle for the Downhill World Cup drove down to the finish area with the airbag open. According to the French Ski Association, the four-time season winner suffered a “traumatic injury to his left calf” and has to miss Kvitfjell.
