Three potential naturalized players have Indonesian lineage. Where does Indonesian blood come from? Thom Haye, Maarten Paesand Ragnar Oratmangoen?

The Director General of General Legal Administration of the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Cahyo Rahadian Muzhar, conveyed the genealogy of the three players in a working meeting with Commission III DPR RI, Thursday (7/3).

For Thom Haye, the player for Dutch club Heerenven has Indonesian ancestry from his grandfather who was born in Solo, Central Java. Apart from that, Haye’s grandmother was also born in Indonesia, specifically in Kawangkoan, Minahasa Regency.

“Thom Jan Marinus Haye has Indonesian lineage from a grandfather who was born in Solo on 30 December 1925 and a grandmother who was born in Kawangkoan 21 September 1933,” said Cahyo.

Meanwhile, Ragnar Oratmangoen, called Cahyo, is of Maluku descent. The grandfather was a man born in Ambon.

“Ragnar Martinus Maria Oeratmangoen has a lineage from a grandfather who was born in Ambon, Maluku on November 3 1925,” said Cahyo.

Then Maarten Paes, who currently plays for MLS club FC Dallas, is the grandson of his grandmother who was born in East Java, specifically in Pare City.

“Maarten Vincent Paes has a lineage from a grandmother who was born in Pare, Kediri, East Java on March 20 1940,” said Cahyo.

The naturalization of Thom Haye, Maarten Paes, and Ragnar Oeratmangoen has been approved by Commission X and Commission III DPR RI. With this situation, the naturalization process for the three of them will continue to the next stage, namely waiting for the decision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia to then undergo the oath of allegiance as Indonesian citizens.

PSSI Deputy Chairperson Zainudin Amali hopes that the three players can take the Indonesian Citizen Oath on March 12 so they can be registered to defend the Indonesian National Team in the 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Vietnam on March 21 and 26.
