[The Epoch Times, January 10, 2022](The Epoch Times reporter Chen Ting comprehensive report) The White House said on Sunday (January 9) that if Iran attacks US citizens, there will be serious consequences, and the United States will work with allies and partners to Prevent and respond to any attack by Iran.

Iran announced on January 8 that it had imposed sanctions on 51 Americans in the two-year anniversary of the killing of Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s Quds Force.

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said the sanctions announcement came as Tehran-linked militias continued to attack U.S. forces in the Middle East, and Iranian officials threatened to carry out attacks in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world. terrorist act.

“America will protect and defend its citizens,” Sullivan said. “We are divided politically. We are divided on Iran policy. But we are united in our resolve against threats and provocations. We are defending our unity of the people.”

“If Iran attacks any of our nationals, including any of the 51 named yesterday, there will be serious consequences,” he said.

Iran’s foreign ministry said Saturday that 51 Americans had been targeted by sanctions for what it called “terrorism” and human rights abuses. Iranian authorities will seize any assets they hold in Iran, but these Americans should have no assets to confiscate on the ground, which is obviously only a symbolic act.

Iran’s sanctions include General Mark Milley, the top U.S. general and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Also includes former White House national security adviser Robert O’Brien.

Soleimani was the commander of Iran’s Quds Force, a branch of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. On January 3, 2020, the then US President Trump (Trump) ordered the use of drones to kill him.

President Trump said at the time that Soleimani had killed or wounded thousands of Americans over a long period of time and was planning to kill more.

He said Soleimani had directly or indirectly killed millions of people over the past two decades, including the recent killing of a large number of protesters in Iran.

Utah Senator Mike Lee said in an interview with the media that if you see injured veterans missing limbs or severely disfigured, most of them are because of Soleimani-led explosive devices.

A year ago, Iran had imposed sanctions on Trump and several senior U.S. officials.
