Xu Jinghu, Special Representative for African Affairs of the Chinese Government, Attends the 21st Council of Ministers of the Indian Ocean Alliance
On November 17, 2021, the 21st Council of Ministers of the Indian Ocean Rim Alliance was held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, in the form of “online + offline”. The rotating chairman of the Ring India Alliance, Bangladesh, 23 member states including the United Arab Emirates, India, Australia, South Africa, and France, and 9 dialogue partner countries including China, the United States, Japan, and South Korea participated. Xu Jinghu, Special Representative for African Affairs of the Chinese Government, attended and delivered a speech on behalf of the Chinese side.
Xu Jinghu said that the Rim India Alliance is an important economic cooperation organization in the Indian Ocean region and has made important contributions to promoting lasting stability and sustainable development in the region. China has always attached importance to the status and role of the alliance, supported the capacity building and development of the alliance, and continuously deepened practical cooperation with the alliance and its member states. Unity and cooperation is the only way to overcome the epidemic and achieve post-epidemic recovery. China insists on treating vaccines as a global public product, and works with the alliance and its member states to build a health line of defense, jointly promote post-epidemic recovery, and jointly promote green, inclusive and sustainable development.
With the theme of “Sustainable Utilization of Resources in the Indian Ocean for Inclusive Development”, the conference discussed cooperation in the fields of anti-epidemic and economic recovery, blue economy, climate change, and maritime security, and further deepened the cooperation of the Central India Alliance. , A broad consensus has been reached on building a prosperous and stable Indian Ocean rim.
