The Region has financed interventions in 22 Treviso municipalities. The roundabouts of Lanzago, Carbonera and Castelfranco are among the construction sites. Here is the complete cut
TREVISO. The alarm bell sounded by the terrible death toll on the road recorded between July and August in the Marca (the last fatal accident yesterday morning) forced a first reaction from the Region. Yesterday, after yet another bloody weekend also in other Venetian provinces, the regional council put another 17.2 million on the plate for the implementation of road safety interventions in 78 municipalities.
Money that is added to the 8 million allocated last year on the basis of the same call in which hundreds of municipalities had participated with as many projects. As many as 12 million fall into the Treviso area to start 22 construction sites. They range from cycle paths to roundabouts, from the remodeling of junctions to the arrangement of sections of road or protected pedestrian paths.
The Treviso list
The lion’s share, in terms of construction site and finances (1.5 million out of 11 total), comes from the financing for the construction of the roundabout along the Castellana, in Castelfranco, at the intersection with via Bella Venezia, via Damini (given for “next” also in recent days by the municipal administration). In fact, the last level crossing along the very busy regional road not yet converted into a roundabout.
An announced and awaited intervention, as well as the redevelopment of the junction of the Treviso ring road at Lanzago di Silea, which one day will also be transformed into a roundabout, facilitating entry and exit from the large artery south of the capital, also interfacing with the roundabout – very close – between via Tiepolo and via Lanzaghe (600 thousand euros the cost).
And a third important roundabout will modify the road network of Carbonera, along viale Brigata Marche, making the section between via Castello and via D’Acquisto safe. 670,000 euros will then arrive in Castellana for a roundabout along the Roman Postumia, in Vedelago, securing the intersection with via Montello. And about 600 thousand euros will finance the cycle / pedestrian path along the Santo del Santo state road in Resana.
“Light” mobility is in fact one of the cornerstones of the maxi regional funding which provides for investments in cycle paths and protected routes also in Mogliano, Farra di Soligo, San Pietro di Feletto, Sernaglia, Paese and Conegliano (here a cycle path along a stretch of Pontebbana). But the rain of money has tight constraints and deadlines.
You work within a year
The Region immediately made things clear with all 78 Veneto municipalities benefiting from the funding: they will have to start work by June 2022, otherwise the funding will be revoked. The technical offices will therefore have to push on the accelerator, which is not complicated since the projects already advanced were rewarded in the tender, in addition to those falling on high accident roads, regional or provincial roads in the inhabited center.
