A stunning match. Undefeated until then in this Six Nations Tournament, the Irish fell in London (22-23) and said goodbye to their dream of a second Grand Slam in a row. At Twickenham, Saturday March 9, the English beat the Clover XV thanks to their offensive drive and a saving drop from Marcus Smith after the siren. The XV de la Rose, which had not beaten Ireland since 2020, offers itself a real feat and gives itself a chance to win the Tournament, before its trip to France on Saturday March 16.
Ireland, which consoles itself with the defensive bonus, retains the lead in the Six Nations rankings with 16 points, but sees England come back four lengths. Very efficient and long ahead in the score, the XV du Trèfle ended up giving in to a more enterprising English team pushed by a white-hot Twickenham crowd.
