Austria’s tennis player Jurij Rodionov defeated Aleksandar Vukic in Munich and now meets Alexander Zverev.
Jurij Rodionov won his first round match at the ATP250 tennis tournament in Munich against Aleksandar Vukic 6:2, 6:3 on Tuesday. For the Austrian, who is ranked 118th in the world, it was the first victory on the ATP tour this year against the Australian, who is ranked 65th. In the round of 16, the 24-year-old will face the top-seeded German Alexander Zverev on Wednesday (second game after 11 a.m., live Sky).
Rodionov got off to a dream start and was 3-0 up after just eight minutes. He followed up with two more breaks and ended the first set after 32 minutes. In the second set he managed a break to make it 4-2, and the match was over after 1:24 hours. For Rodionov it was the first game against Vukic on the ATP tour, now his debut appearance against Zverev, fifth in the world rankings.
For the 26-year-old German, it is the second appearance against an ÖTV player within a short period of time. Last week he defeated Sebastian Ofner in the second round of Monte Carlo 6:3, 6:4. (APA)
