BUDAPEST. Canceled the Italy-Canada match valid for the second day of group C of the water polo world championships scheduled in Sopron, Hungary. The positivity to Covid-19 of three North American players, asymptomatic and already placed in isolation from the rest of the team group, was decisive.
Further decisions of the Fina Task Force on Covid-19 will be communicated in the next few hours, after the outcome of the further swabs carried out by the Canadian team and after the international federation itself has met the representatives of the four teams of group C.
The race was to be held at 19.30 Italian. Confirmed, however, the match between the Iberians and South Africa, scheduled at 18, which could be decisive. In fact, if Spain and Italy, who will face each other on Saturday 25, were to finish first in the group on equal points, to establish the winner of the group, and therefore the team directly qualified for the quarter-finals, we would look at the goal difference with the third classified: Settebello at their debut beat the South Africans 22-4.
