The local police cleared out and took away their few possessions: some blankets and some backpacks. The volunteers: “Why don’t we put them at the ex Serena?”
TREVISO. About fifteen migrants (including Afghans, Pakistanis and Bengalis) evicted from the raised parking area of Appiani, where they slept and camped for a few weeks (some even for a couple of months). On Thursday 30 June the local police intervened, taking away blankets and backpacks.
Today, Friday 1 July, the migrants, accompanied by the Caminantes association, gathered in front of the Treviso police headquarters, at Appiani, staging a sit-in to “ask for a place to sleep”.
Gaia Righetto, Caminantes: «We do not understand why the Serena Barracks are not used, there would be places, but perhaps there is no will. We understand the emergency of the Ukrainian refugees, but we must not distinguish between Serie A and Serie B migrants ».
Meanwhile, the Prefecture says to wait. But is it so complicated to find accommodation for about fifteen migrants, who are also fleeing the Taliban? ”
