All the hostages that had remained in the hands of prisoners in Ecuadorian prisons were released last night: they are 136 people, as the prison administration announced in a statement.
“This night, the security protocols and the joint action of the police and the national army allowed the release of all the hostages held in various prisons in the country,” reads the note.

The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, stated that to solve the problem of narco violence in Ecuador, the army and prisons are not enough as in Nayib Bukele’s El Salvador.
«The way to solve the problem is that of Ecuador, not that of El Salvador. We will be strict against terrorism and corruption, but we also think about the growth of employment and the economy, we need something more security to make the country sustainable”, said Noboa in an interview with the BBC.
