Two Italians on the court tonight, between Sunday 14 January and Monday 15, in the first round of the Australian Open: Lorenzo Musetti and Flavio Cobolli. The first faces the Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi (at one o’clock, the first match on court 14). A complicated match also due to the characteristics of the transalpine player.
Instead, Cobolli will face the Czech Nicolas Jarry (at one o’clock, the first match on field 13). The blue is coming off an excellent run in the qualifiers. There is no peace, however, for Matteo Berrettini. The Italian tennis player withdrew from the Australian Open before his debut against Stefanos Tsitsipas, which would have taken place tonight at two o’clock on the court of the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. Ko due to an injury to his right foot, the same one that forced him to miss the Brisbane tournament earlier this year. The announcement arrived on the official Australian Slam channel X, Matteo will be replaced by Zizou Bergs.

We wish you a speedy recovery, it reads. Berrettini hasn’t played a match since August 31st, the date of his bad ankle injury during the second round of the US Open against the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech.
As for the women’s draw, Sara Errani will be on court against the Australian Storm Sanders (at 1am at the Show Cour Arena) and Jasmine Paolini against the Russian Diana Snaider (on court 13 not before 3am).
