Israeli forces continue operation in Jabalia refugee camp, northern Gaza

Israeli ground forces have continued an operation in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, with witnesses and social media videos documenting the ongoing military activity. Videos filmed for CNN show families attempting to leave the area amidst the sound of drones overhead.

One social media video depicted Israeli tanks positioned near the market in the Jabalia refugee camp, accompanied by heavy gunfire early Sunday morning. The Israel Defense Forces ordered the evacuation of parts of Jabalia on Saturday in preparation for an operation aimed at preventing Hamas from reestablishing a presence in the area.

Abu Muhammed Odeh, a resident of Jabalia, expressed his distress over the situation, stating, “I don’t know where people should go. They are told to go to the west of Gaza, which is Al Shifa hospital and Al Sinaa area, and all those areas were destroyed by the Israelis before.” Odeh emphasized the hardships faced by the community, urging the international community to intervene and end the suffering in Gaza.

The IDF announced on Saturday that they had initiated a “temporary evacuation process” from the Jabalia area to the center of the strip as part of preparations for the military operation. Spokesman Daniel Hagari highlighted the ongoing efforts to dismantle Hamas’s attempts to bolster military capabilities in Jabalia.

Furthermore, the IDF indicated that troops from the 99th Division are engaged in a large-scale operation in the Zeitoun area of central Gaza, where they have reportedly eliminated around thirty terrorists and discovered numerous weapons in a school within the area.

The intensifying situation in Jabalia and other parts of Gaza underscores the escalating tensions in the region, with calls for international intervention to bring an end to the violence and protect innocent lives caught in the crossfire.
