‘Several explosions near the US consulate in Iraq’

Several explosions were reported near the American consulate in Erbil, Iraq, where eight targets were apparently targeted: an Iraqi security source told ABC News, specifying that there were no human losses among coalition forces or among US forces. Coalition forces also shot down three drones near Erbil airport in Iraq, the source said. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps quickly took responsibility for the attacks, saying it was targeting “spies’ headquarters” and “anti-Iranian terrorist rallies in some parts of the region” with ballistic missiles.

Iranian state media announced that the Revolutionary Guards launched a rocket attack against “terrorist groups” in Erbil in Iraq and Syria. “The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the destruction of a headquarters of anti-Iranian spies and terrorist groups in some parts of the region with ballistic missiles,” the official IRNA news agency said.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they launched rocket attacks against ISIS in Syria in response to the bloody January 4 attack near General Qassem Soleimani’s tomb in Kerman. This was reported by the Iranian media, quoted by the Times of Israel which underlines that the raids in Aleppo took place more or less at the same time as those in Erbil in Iraq.

“Civilians were killed” in the attack by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards against Erbil, in northern Iraq. This was reported by the party in power in Iraqi Kurdistan.
