āThe Day Beforeā Developer Fntastic Blames Hate Speech for Gameās Failure
The highly anticipated evacuation survival shooting game āThe Day Beforeā was quickly removed from the shelves after just 4 days, and developer Fntastic has now spoken out, blaming hate speech for the gameās failure.
Fntastic, who also developed āPropnightā and has a good relationship with publisher Mytona, pointed out that the game āBeforeā had been affected by hate speech from the internet, with the Russian version of their statement even saying that āhate has ruined the game.ā
The developer also addressed misinformation and negativity spread by certain bloggers, who they claim have instilled negative biases in peopleās views of the game. Fntastic cited positive reviews from popular streamer Dr. Disrespect and the gameās popularity on Steamās wish list as evidence that the game had potential.
However, āBeforeā faced numerous controversies, including engine conversion issues, trademark litigation, and negative reviews immediately after release. The game was ultimately removed from the shelves, and Fntastic announced that they have officially ceased operations and will shut down the server on January 22, 2024.
Despite leaving a message at the end of the announcement that they will continue to develop other games, Fntastic may struggle to regain the trust of players after the failure of āThe Day Before.ā
