Tianjin Women’s Volleyball Team Claims 16th Super League Title
The Tianjin Bohai Bank Women’s Volleyball Team emerged victorious in the 2023-2024 China Women’s Volleyball Super League finals, claiming their 16th league championship title.
The decisive fourth round of the finals took place on February 3 at the Shanghai Luwan Stadium, where Tianjin defeated Shanghai Guangming Youbei Women’s Volleyball Team 3-1. The match showcased the fierce competition between the two teams, with Tianjin ultimately proving their prowess on the court.
In the first two games, Tianjin demonstrated their dominance, securing victories with scores of 25-19 and 25-11. However, in the third game, Shanghai bounced back with a strong serve, disrupting Tianjin’s play and clinching the game 25-22.
Undeterred by the setback, Tianjin regained control in the fourth game, ultimately sealing their victory with a score of 25-15. This win secured their 3-1 series victory and their 16th league championship.
Following the game, Tianjin’s head coach Wang Baoquan was honored with the league’s best coach award, and player Li Yingying was named the league’s most valuable player.
Speaking after the match, Coach Wang Baoquan commended his team’s resilience, stating, “The Tianjin Women’s Volleyball Team was very well prepared for difficulties. Especially after the loss in the third game, the players did not mess up. Everyone was determined to fight for every ball.”
On the other side, Shanghai’s head coach Wang Zhiteng acknowledged the team’s struggles in the service and reception links, but praised their fighting spirit and resolve in the face of challenges.
Tianjin’s victory marks a significant achievement for the team, cementing their legacy as one of the most successful teams in the history of the China Women’s Volleyball Super League.
