It is reported that the “Implementation Plan” clarifies that the general high school level test (hereinafter referred to as the “academic level test”) will be fully implemented starting from the entrance of high school freshmen in the fall of 2021. Academic level examinations are divided into qualifying examinations and selective examinations. The qualifying examination covers all subjects except labor education and comprehensive practical activity courses stipulated in the national general high school curriculum plan. Optional exams include six subjects: ideology and politics, history, geography, physics, chemistry, and biology.

In deepening the reform of college entrance examination subjects, it is clear that the examination subjects are composed of unified college entrance examination subjects and general high school level selective examination subjects. The unified college entrance examination subjects are Chinese, mathematics, and foreign languages ​​(including English, Russian, Japanese, French, German, and Spanish). The national papers are used regardless of arts and sciences.

The elective exam subjects are ideological and political, history, geography, physics, chemistry, and biology. According to the requirements of the colleges and universities, the candidates will first choose one subject in physics and history, and then choose two subjects from ideological and political, geography, chemistry, and biology, and implement the “3+1+2” model.
