Rome, 9 March. (askanews) – Jorge Martin gets the first pole of the year in Qatar. The Pramac rider, 2023 world vice champion, signed a super time (1:50.789, new track record) ahead of Aleix Espargaro’s Aprilia and Enea Bastianini’s official Ducati.
The world champion, Pecco Bagnaia, is fifth with the number 1 Ducati, held back by some technical problems. In front of him, in the second row, Brad Binder’s KTM; behind Pecco, however, is the highly anticipated Marc Marquez, who was setting the best time before he was betrayed by an error in the last sector. Pedro Acosta, reigning Moto2 champion and MotoGP debutant, is still surprising: eighth on his GasGas (Ktm’s home bike). At 5pm the first points of the season will be up for grabs in the Sprint Race, with the long race tomorrow at 6pm.
