Both the ACC Service Checks company and the directors must appear in court on suspicion of fraud, the Ghent labor auditor’s office says. It was announced on Tuesday that the company had also lost its recognition.
The labor prosecutor has decided to summon the East Flemish company ACC Dienstencheques to the criminal court. The allegations are “violations of the rules regarding service vouchers and fraud with temporary unemployment,” the labor auditor says. The company is suspected, among other things, of having put sick employees on temporary unemployment.
Not only the company, but also the directors must answer to court this autumn. According to the prosecutor’s office, they risk a prison sentence of six months to three years and hefty fines. The lawyer for ACC Dienstencheques says that the allegations are all disputed: “It is now up to the judge to judge.”
Yesterday it was announced that the Flemish government will no longer recognize ACC Service Checks as a service check company from 1 May. An exceptional decision that the company is contesting before the Council of State.
The company employs approximately 500 domestic helpers. According to the unions, they should not worry. “There are plenty of vacancies.” (sdb)
