According to news from Xinhua News Agency on the 7th, the World Health Organization recommended on the 6th that children in sub-Saharan Africa and other areas with high risk of malaria transmission should be widely vaccinated with the world’s first malaria vaccine RTS,S.
The RTS, S malaria vaccine was developed by GlaxoSmithKline in the United Kingdom. The WHO’s communiqué issued on the 6th stated that since 2019, more than 800,000 children in the three pilot countries of Ghana, Kenya and Malawi have been vaccinated with more than 2.3 million doses of RTS, S vaccine. Based on the results of these vaccinations, WHO made recommendations for widespread vaccination in some areas.
