MANAGUA – The candidate of the left party Freedom and Refoundation, Xiomara Castro, is set to win the presidential election held on Sunday in Honduras and could therefore become the first female president of the Latin American country. With just over 50 percent of the ballots scrutinized, the wife of the former president Manuel Zelaya has 53.61 per cent of the consents against the 33.84 per cent assigned to Nasry Asfura, current mayor of Tegucigalpa and candidate of the conservative National party in power for twelve years.
