The national team of the former Dinamo coach is born, debut in Trieste
MILAN. Gianmarco Pozzecco’s adventure on the national team bench officially begins. The first list of players called up (meeting from 20 June and friendly against Slovenia on 25 June) inaugurates the cycle of the coach who therefore begins the blue course from “his of him” Trieste. Achille Polonara (from 22 June) and Marco Spissu (both former Dinamo) return to the blue, whose last appearances were in the Olympic quarter-final against France in Tokyo last summer. First time ever with the Senior for Luca Severini, Leonardo Okeke and John Petrucelli, the latter recently in possession of an Italian passport. For Guglielmo Caruso and Tomas Woldetensae new call after the training camp.
The first official match will be against Slovenia (Saturday 25 June at the Allianz Dome, 8.30 pm) which a few days ago released the squad list including Luka Dongic and the brothers Goran and Zoran Dragc. At the end of the match against the Slovenians, Pozzecco will announce the list of players called up for the Brescia rally (28 June / 1 July) and for the trip to Almere, where the Azzurri will challenge the Netherlands on 4 July (19.30) in the last race of the first qualifying phase at Fiba World Cup 2023.
